In 2025, construction work will begin on the Maria&Martha Hospice in the Einfeld district of Neumünster, which will accommodate up to twelve guests from 2026. Patients with a life-limiting illness will find a final home there, where they will be cared for by palliative physicians, pain therapists, bereavement counselors, nursing staff, kitchen and housekeeping staff and volunteers.
As there is currently no inpatient facility in Neumünster and the surrounding area in addition to outpatient palliative and hospice care, the new hospice will create places that are urgently needed: when treatment in a hospital is no longer necessary and care at home or in a nursing home is not possible.
In this way, guests receive dignified and loving care and support in their final phase of life, while the fears and worries of relatives and loved ones are also taken care of. And all this close to home, so that the remaining time together can be used intensively instead of expending energy on long journeys.
